Book Blurb

Will a photographer be swept off his feet by a duke who’s more dishevelled than dashing?

It’s Valentine’s Day and it’s Billy last shift at The Chelsea Bunn. His photography career never took off, so it’s time to leave London, parcel up the leftover heart-shaped cakes and head back home to Hampshire.

Rumpled Charlie and his two mischievous dogs are Billy’s favourite customers, so when Charlie turns up at closing time with a mysterious wrapped gift and the offer of a whirlwind trip on the London Eye, Billy can’t say no. But Charlie is keeping a secret that could turn Billy’s world happily upside down.

As the snow falls over London and the big wheel grinds to a halt, Billy discovers that wishes aren’t just for Christmas.

Book Review

Fairy tales can be directed at adults, and so much of aspirational gay lit is, in some manner, akin to that genre. Here, oddly, is one story without any descriptive sex scenes, which made me choose pure, asexual romance for the usage of reading time.

The story is quite charming, barely raises plot tension, and generates a totally expected HEA. While Charlie, one of the heroes, is introduced as “Charlie-who-has-no-surname,” the blurb gives away that mystery. This tale takes two nice people, promptly posits that they belong together, and makes it so. Unlike Dorothy and Toto, we always know who is behind the curtain! Nonetheless, a pleasant time is to be had. The heroes’ metamorphoses from friends to more (albeit without letting the reader see the deal sealed with sexual activity!), is presented with charm and a talented use of appropriate Briticism! As a would-be whore for smartly employed language, I was impressed by the authors’ description of Charlie as “shambolic”. It set the tone for the tale. Curious? That’s why Noah Webster worked so hard.
