Book Blurb

Grimbold Drake, influential patriarch of the Drake family, revels in his solitary life of order—a life which is thrown into chaos when his son pays him an unexpected visit, bringing with him a broken but gorgeous young man more than a millennium Grimbold’s junior. A man Grimbold instantly finds himself yearning to fix, to protect, and to claim.

Meek, subservient, and eager to please, Wally Brand doesn’t doubt the tales he’s been told of the cruel and deceitful Amethyst clan, so when he’s forcibly taken from his home and entrusted to Grimbold Drake—the most powerful Amethyst dragon of all—he knows he won’t be long for this world. Only there’s a gleam in Grimbold’s eyes when he looks Wally’s way and a tenderness to his touch that Wally can’t understand.

All he knows is one thing: whether Grimbold means him harm or not, if he can be good to his dragon captor, maybe, just maybe, he’ll get out of this mess alive.

Swallow is a steamy omegaverse mpreg-ish romance set following the events of the Forbidden Desires series. It contains a broken young man who badly needs love, a curmudgeonly dragon with a heart of gold, new nicknames, familiar faces, and the sweetest dog known to dragonkind. For maximum enjoyment, Swallow is best read as a companion piece to the Forbidden Desires series.

Book Review

A millennium-old dragon and a twenty-two-year-old young man are about to discover that everything they ever thought they knew was wrong. Grimbold Drake is the head of the Amethyst clan and the father of Alistair, Sebastian, Geoffrey, Everard, Hugh, Bertram, and Reynard, most of whose stories I’ve read in the ‘Forbidden Desires’ series. Swallow Brand is a Disgraced, a human child born of a dragon and a Pedigree omega. He has lived his entire life in a Pedigree cloister of the Topaz clan and they are a monstrously cruel clan, until Ian took over, but that’s a different story. Both of these men have something to teach the other and it was a delight to watch it happen.

Ian has closed down all the cloister’s belonging to the Topaz clan and returned the dragonets (Disgraced is a term being phased out) to their families or found homes for them, but Wally is an omega who needs a lot of help. Wally was badly abused at his cloister by his father and the Superintendent, and told many lies about the world of dragons. He is terrified when he arrives at Grimbold’s lair as what he has heard about Amethyst clan dragons is that they’re the most horrifying and cruel.

Grimbold thinks he understands what Walter (he refuses to call him by either Swallow or Wally) needs but he doesn’t know everything and there are more than a few errors made on both parts. It takes Walter a while to begin to trust Grimbold and then to understand what they can be to each other. Grimbold, and his dragon, want to care for Walter and have him be theirs, but the human side of Grimbold is unwilling to move too quickly for fear of losing Walter’s trust.

I enjoyed this novella very much and wish it had been longer. The authors have done a really great job with the worldbuild as it’s certainly unique in many ways.
