Book Blurb

Seth is having the worst week of his life. His father has been attacked and Lucas, his younger brother, is missing. His uncle thinks they should give Lucas up for dead but Seth isn’t prepared to do that, leaving to track Lucas down with the help of his cousin, Hunter. Only his brother has been taken by Zane, the crazy alpha who tried to steal Hunter’s mate. They track Zane as far as an abandoned lighthouse where they hope to find Lucas. Instead, they find an omega. Zane’s omega, locked up like Rapunzel in a tower.

Dara is trapped, stuck in a lighthouse with no way out. But escape would be meaningless without his brother, held hostage by Zane. Dara would do anything to keep Max safe, which is how he’s wound up pregnant and hidden away. When two alphas break into his tower and plan to steal him away, he’s determined to keep quiet about what he knows and not break Zane’s rules. But the connection he feels to Seth is more than skin deep and suddenly being stolen doesn’t seem like such a terrible prospect. Not if it means they can save both their brothers. Not if it means a chance for him to find love.

Book Review

I honestly hate when life gets in the way of my reading. I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it so much my plan was to jump straight into the second installment. That was two months ago. Sigh. The worldbuilding that Claire Cullen has created is different and very interesting with a shifter society that has lost many of its abilities and, in fact, much of the lore being relegated to fantasy in books. It’s only omegas who can affect their mate’s abilities and make them stronger shifters, which is where Cade and his brother, Dara, come into the picture.

Cade and Hunter mated in the first book and now it’s Cade’s brother, Dara, and Hunter’s best friend, Seth’s, turn to find love and a powerful mating. Unfortunately Zane, who terrorized Cade in the previous story, is back and wants the powers an omega’s love can restore. But Dara doesn’t love Zane and even though he has kept him locked in a tower and gotten him pregnant, Dara will never be able to give Zane what he wants. It’s luck that brings Seth and Hunter to the tower searching for Seth’s little brother, Lucas, whom Zane abducted, but instead they find a pregnant Dara who ends up going into labor and they rush him back to River Den for help.

Dara and his brother, Max, left River Den to scout for a new site for their den. River Den is bursting at the seams and they’ve run out of room to expand. The brothers were captured by Zane and in order to protect Max, Dara did whatever Zane wanted, ending up pregnant by an alpha he fears and despises. Zane has no interest in the baby, he only wants what Dara can give his dormant shifter, but Dara can’t tell Zane that it’s impossible, instead he has to play along to keep Max safe. Dara is terrified when Hunter and Seth rescue him and return him to the den not knowing what Zane might do to Max once he discovers Dara gone.

It’s very obvious to Cade, Hunter, and Ollie that Seth and Dara have a connection, one that could easily lead to them bonding, but Seth doesn’t want to hear about it. It’s not that he doesn’t feel it, he just thinks this is not the time to focus on it. Not when his brother has been kidnapped and his father, the alpha of their pack, is dying. Instead, Seth comes up with a crazy plan to get inside Zane’s compound and rescue Max, Lucas, and the other shifters Zane has kidnapped. I won’t spoil the surprise of what happens with Zane but I can say that Seth and Dara start the wolves on a new path forward.

I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series. The dens are still needing more space, Seth is the alpha now of Moonrise Cove, and he has brought many great changes to his pack, changes I hope to see move through more of the wolf packs surrounding them. Regardless, I am excited to learn more about this world and watch what happens as they make history together!
