Book Blurb

Adair is perfect -- beautiful, intelligent, and a talented actor and singer, he's the star of Hawk Eye Theater Troupe.

Quiet and shy, Finely excels at making something out of nothing. A talented costume designer, he longs to share the spotlight with Adair, but he knows he has neither the talent nor the charisma to make the transition from backstage production to leading man -- until he finds a pair of magical shoes left by a mysterious benefactor.

Thanks to his newfound magic, Finley's life starts to turn around. Everything he wasn't, he becomes. Everything he wanted, he receives. But the closer they get to show time, the more Finley questions if the love he wants for Adair ends on stage or if what they've found can survive once the curtain falls and the magic goes back in the box.

Book Review

Christmas magic has a logic of its own, as I discovered when reading ‘Sole’ with its angsty main character, Finley, and bold leading actor Adair, the man Finley admires but thinks he can never have as a boyfriend. The whole setup of Finley discovering magical shoes that help him to step onto the stage at Adair’s side is pretty clever. And I have to admit I got so wrapped up in Finley’s enthusiasm about being able to perform in the play that I lost sight of what was really going on – and I loved the fact that I ended up as surprised as Finley.

Finley is a talented costume designer, and he loves the theater, but he wishes Adair would notice him. They occasionally interact, but only as much as any leading actor would with the guy responsible for his wardrobe, and Finley wants more. He is too shy to ask Adair out, Adair is a bit of a player, and Finley almost despairs. The magical shoes seem to fix everything – only what happens when they come off? Not at all what I expected, that much is certain.

If you like traveling theater troupes and their backstage drama, if an angsty guy coming into his own is your thing, and if you’re looking for an entertaining read with a nice twist at the end, then you will probably like this novella.
