Book Blurb

It is time to go to my son.

Nen waited to hear those words from the Vasilissa for fifteen rotations, since that time the snow wouldn’t stop falling. But now that he’s about to meet Anani, the love of his life, again, he’s afraid. What if Anani doesn’t feel the same anymore?

Anani, the guardian of the water element, was only seventeen when he was banished from his mother’s court. Heartbroken he couldn’t be with the one he loved, he lost control over his emotions and his power. No matter what he tried, the snow wouldn’t stop, and as a last resort, he was sent away.

When they finally meet again, Anani is hopeful but disillusioned. The law that kept them apart hasn’t changed. How will they be able to find their happily ever after?

And what happens when the snow starts falling again?

Book Review

In a fantasy world where elementals reign according to very specific rules, women are in power, and same-sex unions are unthinkable, the drama of a gardener falling for the regining Vasilissa’s son is too much for anyone to deal with, even the seemingly all-powerful ruler herself. The situation results in the son’s banishment, but because he is tied to the weather, this has unforeseen consequences. It’s an interesting concept – that of seemingly endless snow caused by the pain and emotional turmoil of a man who doesn’t know if he will ever see his soulmate again.
Nen is the gardener who stays behind when the much younger prince is banished for “daring” to fall in love with a man before he turns eighteen and they can begin to think about a relationship. The cold season that follows and lasts a year should have made the ruler realize she made a mistake – but it takes her fourteen more years to admit she was wrong. When Nen is finally allowed to go after Anani he has no idea what he will find. They have not been in touch and even though his love for Anani has never changed, he has no idea if his feelings are returned. The emotions that follow their reunion are so tumultuous that they end up snowed in and it becomes clear that they will have to talk and solve their uncertainties if they ever want to make it back to civilization to face their other issues.

If you like fantasy world with unusual rules, if you want to see the effects an upset water guardian can have on the weather, and if you’re looking for a short read that will transport you into another world, then you might like this novella.
