His brother’s two best friends, and an HEA worth fighting for…
I’ve had a crush on Blake and Casey since I first started getting crushes.
My older brother’s best friends, they practically lived at our house growing up.
And when I was an awkward tween, I truly believed they were the coolest people on this unworthy planet.
So it’s surprising and sweet when they offer to let me stay with them in Pittsburgh.
After moving to a new city, I suddenly lose my apartment, and Blake and Casey are my unexpected salvation.
Which is great, except that I have a cardboard box full of makeup and lingerie hidden beneath my bed, and a promise I’ve made to myself.
Now that I’m on my own, I’m going to live the way I want to live, and dress how I want to dress.
I just can’t imagine wearing lipstick in front of my brother’s intimidating, older friends.
I can’t imagine having the courage to share my secret with them, until I learn that Casey and Blake have some secrets of their own…
Were I a licensed Literary Geneticist, I could adeptly analyze the rules of when/why fictional offspring (that is, subsequent books in a series) grow stronger and more interesting, or merely grow somewhat more insipid than their predecessors. Well, here’s my chance. 'Shared Secrets' requires little more than brevity in a review, after all, it’s not an epic, sexual, historic tome (i.e., Whore and Piece!).
Peyton’s friend #1, Blake, seems to be straight – mostly. Casey, Peyton’s friend # 2, is bisexual. Surprise – these two roommates occasionally help each other flush out their seminal glands. And along comes Peyton’s young brother, Russell – to cover all the vacant bases. Russell is quietly queer, loves makeup, and is addicted to sexy, feminine underwear. Most important, Russell has always been wildly attracted to Casey and Blake. “When I was a teenager, the two of them lived rent-free in my horny imagination.” In ‘Shared Secrets’, the three men present a fictionally satisfying diverse sexual grouping.
It will not shock even those readers who have skipped the blurb, but an erotic triad is in the making and Mr. Cayden constructs it with an entertaining voice and fluid pace. Even the secondary characters nicely assist in the trip to the inevitable HEA, though a pencil and sketch pad might well assist in best visualizing the physical interdynamics of their sexual combinations. “Holy fuck. I’d just hooked up with two guys at once. And not just any two guys, but Blake and Casey.”
This fourth volume in a collection is sweetly satisfying. The blurb's appended “publisher’s note” accurately posits ‘Shared Secrets’ as an M/M/M easy read; full of steamy fun; it can be enjoyed as a standalone, or read along with the rest of the series. The note directs the reader to “Enjoy!” and I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t. It is easy, fast to consume, without fear of any intellectual indigestion.
