Book Blurb

David Hannon hasn’t written a word of his latest detective thriller since he threw out his lover Clark five months ago after he caught Clark cheating on him. So when his agent informs him that he’s about to leave New York to take a little trip to an island off the south coast of England, David is torn. It could be just what he needs—or the vacation from hell. Once he arrives there, David quickly falls in love with the beautiful, tranquil Steephill Cove. The quiet little bay has everything David needs, including the opportunity to get laid regularly, in the gorgeous shape of Taylor Monroe, who runs a water sports equipment hire business. David’s a happy man. He always writes better when there is a plentiful supply of good sex.

When Taylor first meets the Lighthouse’s newest occupant, he can almost hear the click. David is just what Taylor needs—an older, sexy guy who is willing to share his bed, no strings, no promises. At least, that was the plan. As the two men spend more time together, Taylor finds himself growing to like the confident writer more and more. Taylor’s family like him. Taylor’s friends like him. And then there comes the moment when Taylor realizes that maybe it’s no longer a matter of liking David, but something a whole lot stronger.

Unfortunately, his epiphany occurs a little too late, when a visitor to the bay forces Taylor to accept that David might be spoken for. In any case, David is leaving at the end of September—and it looks like he’ll be taking Taylor’s heart with him…

Book Review

What a stunning, emotionally charged, beautiful story. Both main characters are amazing men, and I suspect that quite a bit of my fascination comes from the fact that David is an author suffering from writer’s block – a situation I can personally relate to. There is much more to his story than that though, and getting to know him and his past was great fun. Taylor, who is twenty years his junior, is just as interesting, going from my first impression of “probably a surfer boy” – in the nicest way – to a young man who has had his share of heartache and so deserves to find love. Watching the two of them meet, get to know each other, come to an agreement, then unwillingly and unwittingly walk all over it was touching and aggravating all at the same time. A fabulous read, K.C., thank you!

David, an American writer of detective novels under a pseudonym, has been sent to the Isle of Wight by his agent. His task? Get his act together and finally finish his next novel. His problem? He caught his lover of two years cheating on him in their own bed five months ago and hasn’t written a word since then. His solution to date: Drink as much as he can and try to forget. Unfortunately that hasn’t worked in the slightest, so he decides to take his agent’s advice (not that she gives him a choice!) and tries to make the best of the situation. Since “the situation” is his living in a lighthouse right on the beach for a month, it’s not too difficult. But when he meets Taylor, who lives a few houses down the same beach, David’s “time out” takes an entirely different direction, and not one he expected.

Taylor is basically a happy, friendly guy with a huge heart. He is attracted to David from the moment they meet, and doesn’t hold back from expressing his interest. When they agree to make the most of the four weeks they have, no strings attached, Taylor expects to have a great time – and nothing more. But he quickly discovers, with the help of his four wonderful friends, that there is more to his relationship with David than he expected, or wanted. How did he fall in love so quickly? Never mind that, actually, how is going to survive David leaving?

If you like stories about men who think they have “love” figured out only to discover they had it all wrong, if a beautiful beach setting and descriptions of lazy days in the sun (and blisteringly hot nights under the moon) are your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is as hot as it is deeply touching, then you will probably like this novel as much as I did.
