Book Blurb

Quiet, strait-laced David Appleton thinks he’s going to have a problem at work. A new co-worker discovered his secret in the locker room. Unable to confront someone, David let him walk away. Now he worries everyone will know his deepest held secret. A secret hidden under his signature vest, tie, and trousers.

Since walking in on his co-worker, CJ O’Connell tries to get a moment to speak with the shy David, but nothing works. His last hope—the Secret Santa Gift Exchange party. Perhaps a special gift can peel away the secrets.

Book Review

Christmas parties in the office, a Secret Santa event, and hateful coworkers are at the center of this cute holiday story. With David as shy as he is, and a bad misunderstanding between him and new colleague CJ, there is quite a bit of tension at the beginning of this tale. But there is also CJ’s determination to apologize and make it up to David, and he finds an absolutely wonderful way of doing it.

David is not just shy, he is positively withdrawn. One of his colleagues already has it out for him, and when a new coworker discovers David’s sensual secret in the company gym, David pulls back from human contact even more. The fear and worry he has to go through before the Secret Santa party are pretty bad and would ruin anyone’s holiday mood.

CJ has been watching David from afar ever since the “incident”, since there has been no opportunity for him to apologize. Not that he has any idea how to do that anyway – until the Secret Santa draw offers CJ the opening he needs… and what he comes up with is absolutely perfect.
If you like office-based holiday stories, if a relationship that begins with a misunderstanding is your thing, and if you’re looking for an entertaining, slightly angsty read with a great ending, then you might like this short story.
