Book Blurb

Greyson Bailey had followed Shifter King Montgomery Beck for years. He stood by his side through thick and thin, fought numerous battles with him, and was even there when the man eventually claimed his omega after twenty-five years of waiting for him. Greyson just wished he could find a bit of that happiness of his own.

When he's sent to oversee the omegas at the monastery where Fagan grew up, he finds more trouble than a simple shifter, even a warrior like himself, can handle. He wakes up wounded in an alley with no idea how he got there, who had shot him, or why the omega kneeling next to him smells so damn alluring.

Davan has spent his entire life in a monastery being trained to serve whatever master he was given to. He learned every fighting skill he could, not to protect his master, but to protect himself. He had no intention of spending his life serving someone he didn't know.

The man he saved and dragged to the alley is a different story. Davan desperately wants to get to know him better, but the people who hurt Greyson have other ideas. Chased through the streets of the city, Davan and Greyson have to fight for their future. Together they just might have a chance at happiness.

Book Review

This second book in the postapocalyptic ‘Shifter Kings’ series was just as exciting and a little more revealing than the first. The consequences of the ages-old war between humans, shifters, and sidhe become clearer and it becomes obvious that the three-way peace treaty with certain conditions has not been followed by everyone. Details about the political subterfuge that is going on behind the scenes emerge, and while many well-known elements of paranormal stories are the building blocks for this tale, the author continues to come up with variations on the theme that have me eagerly turning the pages. The focus this time is on Greyson, one of shifter king Montgomery Beck’s most loyal followers, and what he finds when he is sent to protect the other omegas at the monastery is more than surprising.

Greyson does not expect to find more resistance at the monastery after the omegas were rescued from the cruel slavery they’d been subjected to by the humans in charge. But when he wakes up wounded and figures out that the omegas are still in danger, he has to help. Plus the attraction between him and Davan is off the charts – and that is something that is only supposed to happen between a shifter king and an omega. Greyson is not a shifter king, so what the heck?

Davan has been trained to be a submissive/slave all his life. Like all omegas he is blind, but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming a fighter – and a good one at that. Davan is determined to get to know the alluring Greyson better since he’d much rather be with him than some unknown “master” he has been promised to. I loved how hard he fought to be independent, how he took his fate into his own hands, and how he refused to give up no matter what happened. And there were a lot of obstacles to his happiness!

If you like shifter worlds with lots of intrigue, political machinations, and struggles for power, if you think that a determined omega and a strong warrior might make a good couple, and if you’re looking for a read full of danger, surprises, and yet another cliff-hanger, then you will probably like this novella. I look forward to the next installment!
