Book Review

In this final installment of the trilogy about three shifter friends who met in prison, it is werewolf Vince’s turn to find his mate. Werebear Damon is happily mated to tabby cat shifter Steve and werejaguar Dallas has rescued Mick from the same backward tabby shifter clan, but Vince is still unmated – as is Steve and Mick’s friend, Julian. When Vince gets called for an emergency after Julian tries to kill himself, he decides that no matter the trouble it will cause, he will not leave omega Julian behind. What follows is more trouble from the traditionalist Orange Tails Elders, a lot of support from Vince’s friends, and more than one tense moment in the last adventure of this series.

Julian may be an omega, but he has fought to get an education before being married off. When he no longer has an excuse, he faces a forced mating to a dominant tabby shifter who sees him as a possession. Julian sees no way out, having been told that Steve and Mick are dead, so he decides to overdose on sleeping pills in the few unsupervised minutes he has just before the wedding ceremony. He is shocked that he gets rescued, but once things change, he goes with the flow.

Vince has already lost a mate, barely survived prison, and is not interested in getting in trouble with anyone. But when he and his fellow paramedic are called to help at the Orange Tail compound, he can’t stay away despite knowing the Elders probably still bear a grudge for Vince being part of the team that freed Steve and Mick about a year earlier. Imagine his shock when he discovers that the omega who attempted suicide is his mate. Not surprisingly, that changes everything for Vince.

Neither Julian nor Vince expected to ever find a mate. Julian never imagined he’d be free, and learning how to deal with the outside world isn’t easy. Vince’s wolf is sure he wants Julian, but Vince has to consider the repercussions of going up against the entire tabby shifter clan yet again. The Elders don’t sit still for long, and the result is a suspenseful adventure full of surprises and the constant threat of the clan destroying everything Vince and Julian want to build. As for the arrogant Orange Tail Elders? All I will say is that I totally approve of what the author had happen to them.

If you like romances with lots of action and suspense, if you like seeing a man without hope gain his freedom and grow his self-confidence, and if you’re looking for an exciting read with a touch of suspense and a lot of loving, then you might like this novella.
