Book Blurb

Papa Bear was president of the Blue Angels, one of the deadliest biker clubs west of the Mississippi. He answered to no one, going where he wanted when he wanted. When being on the road so much takes its toll on him, Papa Bear heads to the woods to let his bear roam free. Finding a man beaten and covered in blood was never part of that plan but turning his back on the wounded man just wasn’t possible, especially since he suspects the little wolf might be his mate.

Bartholomew ‘Bug’ Matthews was on the run. Finding himself rescued by a burly tattooed biker was not where he expected to be but he wasn’t complaining. Papa Bear was the sexiest man Bug had ever seen. When the handsome man claims him, Bug couldn’t be happier. But his joy is short lived when Papa Bear disappears, leaving Bug alone and in more danger than ever.

When a vicious attack leaves Papa Bear with no memory of his mate, will he lose his one chance to find happiness or will Bug be able to protect himself and the secret he holds?

Book Review

I read the original, shorter version of this novella in the ‘To Ride a Cowboy’ anthology, and I was absolutely delighted when I discovered the author was expanding and rereleasing it as its own work. I fell in love with Bug right from the start and Papa Bear was a very close second. Hell, I was hooked right from the description, but then again, I’m easy.

Bug’s father is one of “those” kinds of alphas - a man’s man and all that BS - and Bug has never measured up. He was born the runt of the litter and was sickly a lot until he was finally able to shift. The fact that he’s gay is the last straw for his father. When Bug runs away, his father sends three of his meanest enforcers after him to torture and leave Bug for dead. But Bug is stronger than that with remarkable healing abilities. Regardless, he’s barely alive when Travis finds him.

Travis (Bear) is a big bear shifter and president of a wicked motorcycle club, but when he finds Bug and realizes he’s his mate, he knows things are going to have to change. After mating and claiming Bug, Bear is a little surprised to realize Bug is pregnant so quickly, but considering the heaving into the toilet he’s doing, it’s kind of unmistakable. *grins* Bear leaves to get Bug something to settle his stomach when he is set upon by ten wolves and left with no memory of his mate. Bug really does have crappy luck.

I felt so horrible for Bug being pregnant and staying in the motel Bear left him at, all while worrying where his mate had gone, and having to get a job at the Piggly Wiggly to survive. It’s just Bug’s luck - finally - that Sheriff Sparrow (there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while) shows up to help Bug deliver his son, and also promises to try to find Bear for him. What a relief when Bear and Bug are reunited and Bear’s memories start to come back. Of course, when Bear meets his son for the first time, that’s a definite aww moment. This little family isn’t out of the woods yet, however. Bug’s dad is still looking for him and he’s not taking no for an answer.

This extended version is even better than the original! I got to see more of Bear and Bug, plus more of the rest of the guys in the club. I was a little bummed about some predictability but I got over it pretty quickly. Thank you, Stormy, for taking a great read and making it fabulous!
