Book Blurb

Mark Ryan is stabbed in the back by a guy he thought was his friend and is fired from a Fortune 500 company he trusted was his future. He’s not in the mood for any male bonding. Some good hard sex, however, is another matter.

Jamie Wilkes’ real last name is not quite as brand-worthy as Rockefeller, but it’s mighty close. When he wanders by Mark’s mammoth glass beach house and finds the hot corporate titan in residence, he jumps at the chance to get to know his secret crush better. If Mark wants to mistake him for a surfer or a beach bum, Jamie’s fine with that. What he’s not fine with, though, is Mark’s closed-off attitude.

The prince believed to be a pauper and the would-be CEO who’s fallen off the corporate ladder both realize this could finally be their chance at something real.

Book Review

Sometimes, for me, the best way to experience a new-to-me author is to read a short story by them to get a feel for the way they write, and the kinds of characters they create. The description for ‘Male Bonding’ sounded as if it would be sexy and potentially humorous as Mark mistakes Jamie for a beach bum instead of a member of a very wealthy family. I was looking forward to some shenanigans.

I’ve met some cynical men in my life but Mark really takes the cake. I understand he has just had the shi**iest day of his life but when Jamie makes a pretty bold pass, all Mark can think is what this young guy wants in exchange. Jamie doesn’t want anything except the gorgeous older man he has only seen a few times. He figures it wouldn’t hurt to put all of his cards out on the table. Of course, once Mark turns out to be such an a**hole, Jamie figures he’ll leave well enough alone. Just when Jamie figures he has a handle on the corporate “hotshot” he learns some interesting information that has him viewing Mark in a different light.

I had a couple of moments during this reading where Jamie’s behavior, I suppose I would call it, made me feel a little squicky. I’m not going to go into detail but, in my opinion, I don’t believe in trying to expand someone’s sexual experience when you’ve known them less than twenty-four hours. It was all consensual but there were definite moments that made me a wee bit uncomfortable.

If you enjoy insta-lust which very quickly turns into something more, and a younger more free-spirited man helping his slightly older lover find his way past the chains of corporate life, then this novella might be for you.
