Book Blurb

Hunter Breckman and Jay Marshall became instant best friends when they were ten years old. But what if they’d always been destined for more?

After being inseparable in their youth, the passage of time, the entire length of the country between them, and struggles in their personal lives have kept them apart as adults. Maybe coming home to Colorado for the holidays is exactly the impetus two long-lost friends need to rekindle their relationship, heal their hurts, and discover the magic that’s always existed between them!

Book Review

This was a really good book. I was very much into the story, so much so that I could not put it down. I even stayed up late just to finish it because I just had to know how it ended. These two men really stole my heart. M.L. Rhodes did a tremendous job on this novel, that is for sure. I just love a book that is an unrequited love story. And this book was definitely that. Two best friends who lost touch only to accidentally bump into each other again unexpectedly; one who is out in the open gay and the other a supposedly straight man who turns out to be not so straight after all… what is not to love? This book is told from Hunter’s point of view.

Hunter is totally brokenhearted by his boyfriend and business partner Shane. After coming home to catch Shane cheating on him with a would-be client, Hunter’s whole world is thrown into turmoil. He knows he will never forgive Shane for his betrayal but he is unsure of how they are going to handle the law firm they are in partnership together.

What Hunter does know is that he is not going back to their condo and he does not want to talk to or see Shane right now. So after much debate with himself, he decides to head to his hometown in Colorado to spend some time with his family for the Christmas holidays. He is really torn on whether this is a good decision or not but he does know he does not want to be alone right now either, so home it is.

Turns out this is the best decision he could have ever made because he now realizes how much he has let Shane and Shane’s attitude influence his own. He also realizes how much he has missed his family and how much he has missed out on where his family is concerned.

After running into someone he does not expect to run into, Hunter gets a few surprises he never expected to get. Jay and Hunter have been best friends since grade school. They were pretty much inseparable until they went to college. Once they went to college, life happened and they lost touch. Now all these years later they have the opportunity to reconnect with one another and Jay and Hunter both have some revealing surprises for each other that neither expected.

Can two men who used to be best friends find a way back to the friendship they once had together? What will happen when secrets are revealed by both men? Can they work toward something more between them? Will Shane end up causing problems for these two if they do reconnect with each other?

This was such a great read. I truly enjoyed this book. The things these two men endured individually to become the men they are today was overwhelming. I loved how these two were able to pretty much pick up their friendship almost instantaneously. M.L. Rhodes did such an incredible job on this book. I truly look forward to more of her work in the future.
