When a series of bombs go off in a Therian youth center, injuring members of THIRDS Team Destructive Delta, and causing a rift between agents Dexter J. Daley and Sloane Brodie, peace seems unattainable. Especially when a new and frightening group, the Order of Adrasteia, appears to always be a step ahead. With panic and intolerance spreading and streets becoming littered with the Order’s propaganda, hostility between Humans and Therians grows daily. Dex and Sloane, along with the rest of the team, are determined to take down the Order and restore peace, not to mention settle a personal score. But the deeper the team investigates the bombings, the more they believe there’s a more sinister motive than a desire to shed blood and spread chaos.

Discovering the frightful truth behind the Order’s intent forces Sloane to confront secrets from a past he thought he’d left behind for good, a past that could not only destroy him and his career, but also the reputation of the organization that made him all he is today. Now more than ever, Dex and Sloane need each other, and, along with trust, the strength of their bond will mean the difference between justice and all-out war.

Book Review

'Blood & Thunder' is the second entry in Charlie Cochet's thrilling new series 'THIRDS'. I was instantly addicted to the series after I had the honor of reading and reviewing the first book, ‘Hell & High Water’, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. I mean, with shifters, SWAT teams, murder, conspiracies, hot and sexy men, plus nonstop action, who wouldn't!

After eight months, Dex Daley has settled into his job as a member of THIRDS team Destructive Delta. He and Sloane Brodie are trying to navigate their way through the pitfalls of their relationship, and having to keep it a secret doesn't help any. Dex does his best to be patient, but he's starting to get whiplash because Sloane can't seem to make up his mind what he wants. Every time they start to get serious, Sloane does his best to push Dex away, then comes back and apologizes. Dex reaches his breaking point when, after Dex disobeys an order from Sloane about waiting for backup, Sloane chews him out, then instead of letting it go like he would for any of the other team members, Sloane gives him a written reprimand. Dex feels as though Sloane is nitpicking on him because of his unresolved feelings about their relationship.

Sloane Brodie is torn about his relationship with Dex. After his partner/lover Gabe is murdered, Sloane made up his mind to protect his heart by never letting anyone get that close again. He thought he could keep things casual between them, but it doesn't seem to be working. He feels guilty about his developing feelings for Dex, so he does his best to break things off, but can't seem to stay away. Tensions between the two reach new levels when Sloane starts treating Dex differently by reprimanding him for actions he would let go for the other members of their team. It takes Dex almost losing his life to make Sloane realize just how much Dex means to him.

This book pulled me in from the very first, and kept me glued to my e-reader wanting to know what was going to happen next. If you want a tale that has enough twists and turns to make a roller coaster look like a Sunday drive, steamy sex between hot men, and enough action to satisfy the most extreme adrenaline junkie, then grab this book and hang on for one wild ride!
