Book Blurb

When Connor’s friend signs him up for a crochet course, the last thing he expects is to find love. However, at the community center, he meets hunky Finn. There’s only one problem: Finn assumes Connor’s there for the boxing class, and Connor lets him believe it, worried Finn will ditch him if he knows Connor prefers crafting to upper cuts. Can they salvage the situation when the truth comes out?

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2019 Advent Calendar "Homemade for the Holidays."

Book Review

As Connor learns in this story, assumptions about what other people might think if they knew the truth about him can be easy to make, but they have consequences. Connor likes crafts and is determined to learn how to crochet, but when he runs into Finn, a hunk of a man and more handsome than should be legal, Connor fears admitting his preference will lead to disdain. Crochet isn’t the most “manly” hobby, right? Avoiding the truth seems easy at first since Finn assumes Connor is at the center for the boxing class – but as time passes and Finn begins to show his interest, the initial “lie by omission” grows into a potential obstacle between two men who are clearly attracted to each other.

Connor isn’t the only one making assumptions though – Finn is just as convinced that they are not compatible based on the fact that he assumes Connor to be a boxing enthusiast. Because he is fit, Finn has been mistaken for a guy who prefers physical activities, but his actual interests lie elsewhere. Luckily he is slightly less shy than Connor and takes the first step in what turns out to be a lovely romance once all the stereotyping is exposed for what it is and honesty takes over.

If you like holiday stories filled with charm, if you enjoy reading about men who learn to be more honest about what they like, and if you’re looking for a sweet read about two charming guys, then you might like this holiday-themed short story.
