Book Blurb

When Robin was three, his mother took him to the mall and then disappeared into the crowd of Christmas shoppers, never to be seen again. Growing up in foster care was hard, but finding out that he was omega gave him hope. Someday, he’d have his own family, better than the one that abandoned him. Problem is, he needs a partner. A good one. When his latest boyfriend dumps him—on Christmas Eve!—he ends up at his best friend Ben’s house. Ben used to be a fantastic partner, but he’s got his own demons, so Robin tries to be happy with just his friendship these days.

Ben’s always loved Robin, but as the fourth generation in a family that passes down abuse like it’s an heirloom, he’s decided to put an end to the pattern. He plans to never have children, for fear he’ll turn out just like his father, and so he keeps Robin at arm’s length. Until Robin goes into heat and all plans are turned upside down.

Robin is pregnant, a Christmas miracle. The start of the family he’s always wanted. But is Ben strong enough to overcome his fear and his family history? And can Robin, abandoned by so many, find the courage to trust Ben to stay?

Author's note: While this book can be read separately from the Oceanport series, it takes place in the same location and readers of the series might recognize one or two friendly faces around town.

Book Review

I couldn’t think of anything more touching, and welcome, than a novella in one of my well-loved series set at Christmas time. I imagine Oceanport is a wonderful place to be during the holidays with everything decorated and all the happy couples from previous stories celebrating with their loved ones.

“He didn't say anything as he drew me into his arms. I was glad for that. I didn't need him to remind me that we weren't getting back together or whatever. I only wanted to feel loved for a little bit longer.”

Robin just about wrenched my heart from my chest. Abandoned by his mother and left to fend for himself in foster care, the only thing he has ever been sure of is his desire for a family of his own. Ben has never wanted to be a parent, feeling positive that generations of alphas abusing their omegas is in his blood. Robin would like nothing better than to be Ben’s omega but the alpha broke his heart once before and Robin knows the only relationship Ben will let them have is as the best friends they’ve been since they were young. Ben loves Robin and wishes he would pick better alphas to date as Ben sees Robin as so much more than just a womb.

This is one of the sweetest stories I’ve read in a while. I truly wish it had been longer because I would have loved a more in-depth look at both of these men. As it is, Robin and Ben are very cute together and it was great seeing them work through their fears. I’m looking forward to more books in this series!
