A good sports-based romance is just what I needed, and when I came across a whole series (well, two previous books and a third up for publication in a few weeks), I decided to give it a go. The blurb alone had my anticipation going up a few notches.

A “twist on the tale of My Fair Lady” sounded like a promising proposition for a historical tale, set in the London of 1909. The description of this new take on one of my favorite tropes caught my attention from the first.

After the author left me on pins and needles at the end of ‘Model Bodyguard’, book two in the series, I was eagerly anticipating this novel. I mean, Ollie out cold after driving Jacob’s tour bus on a high-speed chase with a gun pointed at his head, Kade shot with Ollie’s taser and with a gun, bleeding out…

There are some books, at least for me, where the main point is not liking the characters or even the story. These tales still need to be told, and I can still learn from them, but it isn’t necessarily an enjoyable activity. ‘Slim Chance’, for me, is one of those cases. It is an excellent novel for many reasons...

'Something like Stories - Volume Two' by Jay Bell is the second volume of short stories featuring a broader and deeper look into some of my favorite characters in the series caught in a snapshot moment in their lives. Each story I revisit enhances my knowledge and understanding of the characters involved.

'Adding It Up' by Chris Owens and Tory Temple begins six months after the first story ends. Deuce and Trey have established a daily routine between themselves and for the dogs. Trey's daughter, Lacey, spends weekends with them as well. It is not always easy to juggle all of the responsibilities with Trey being an EMT.

‘A New Way to Dance’ is an in-depth look at a relationship that is a lot more complicated than it seems at first glance. With two men who share chemistry and are really good together outside the bedroom as well as once they get physical, it seems obvious that they belong together. And yet…

Spiral has come a very long way since I first read book one in this series. They are definitely on their way to the top, having just finished the European leg of their first world tour, and now they're all home in New York and just needing to relax.

As hot as cowboys and the stories about them can be, especially when rodeos are involved, there is always the underlying threat of serious injury. Yes, there is danger in ranch work as well, but it’s a whole different dimension when you’re talking bull riding and bucking horses.

I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across this second book in the 'Guardsmen' series, purely by accident. The author self-published this book and it was pure luck that I discovered it considering how much I absolutely loved book one, 'The Protector'.
